5 April "Dr Beeching: A Reckless axeman or necessary surgeon?"
55 years after his report, for which some people held him responsible for
the death of rural Britain, Dr Beeching's work and legacy deserve a
3 May Steve Marshall : "Art of World War 2 - The John Noott Collection".
John Noott was 7 years old when war broke out in 1939. Later in life as a
successful art dealer he began to collect art made during the war. It is a
remarkable collection. Steve Marshall, Exhibitions Curator at St Barbe
Museum will tell us about it.
7 June John McCleer : "Picturing India: People, Places and the East India
The British engagement with India was an extensively visual one. Weaving
together the stories of individual objects, their creators and the people and
events they depict, this talk will explore the East India Company and its
complex relationship with India, its people and cultures".
