Reminders for Leaders
Lymington U3A Website: Your signature and agreement is required before your contact details can be legally shown on our website. You should have or will receive a form asking for which details you prefer, telephone or e-mail. Please make sure to complete this and return it to your member of your Group Support Team (GST) or Yvonne as soon as possible.
Attendance Record Sheets – September 2011 – February 2012
Please hand these in to your member of the GST soon after the final meeting in February with your Group.
New sheets from March – August 2012 are already available.
Changes and Additions to the Group Information Sheet
Genealogy: Glenda Patterson has been leader of the group for 8 years but has recently resigned owing to family commitments. We express our thanks to her for having organised over so many years such an interesting and fascinating group which has brought enjoyment and often unanticipated results to many members. Barbara Ball, who has also been a member of the group for some time has agreed to take on the leadership. Contact Barbara Ball on 01590 622691. Thank you Barbara for volunteering.
Exploring Science Matters: Meetings now take place fortnightly on Fridays from 10.30 – 12.00 noon, hosted by Hilvary Robinson.
Film Club: Jasia Goodman
Meetings take place on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 2.30 – 5.00 pm
Scrabble: Elisabeth Large
This group would like some new members to update and challenge their skills.
Spanish for Beginners & Improvers: Can you help?
Spanish speaker is urgently required to re-instate this group after Margaret’s retirement.
Proposals for New Groups
Canasta: Can you play, would you like to learn and join/run a group?
Film Club 2: The rapid success and growth of the first group has led to a proposal for a second group. Would you like to join?
Home Dining Club: Dine in members’ homes in groups of 6.
An opportunity to meet many more members and join in stimulating conversation. Go out and save cash!
How does it work? A maximum of 6 people come together in pairs of friends, partners or couples. One pair hosts the group and provides the main course, a second pair brings the starter and a bottle of wine, whilst the third pair caters for the dessert and a bottle of wine. A rota is arranged so that groups circulate monthly/3 monthly as agreed, thus dining with different people in different places on each occasion.
There will also be clipboards for you to sign at the next General Meetings in February and March.
Study Day – Friday, 16 March 2012
Our Coastal Heritage – The Solent Through the Ages
Registration for the day is now well underway. If you are interested, do not forget to send me your form without delay. It promises to be a very interesting day with Maritime Bus of the Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology on site.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Milford Parish Council for its financial support with this project.
If interested in any of the above, please contact Yvonne Headey,
Co-ordinator for Leisure & Learning, on 01590 671629.
